Datalogic Arrow FOTA is a firmware-over-the-air service that empowers IT teams to meet security requirements while maintaining operational control with flexible, feature-rich, FOTA policies that help define update strategies that fit their operational requirements and keep devices secure and up to date. Minimize disruption, network usage, and administrative effort across the fleet and take the complexity out of keeping your fleet up to date with intuitive controls, automated deployment processes, and integration with existing IT tools. Making updates easier to plan, deploy, and manage at scale.
Schedule firmware updates around operational requirements with recurring weekly update windows when devices are least likely to be in use, specific start dates or deployment windows between two set dates for updates to occur, and set update delays for a defined period, giving your team time to validate updates with test devices.
Give IT complete control over the update process. Either eliminate manual updates entirely by automating firmware deployment without requiring user interaction, or trigger updates through user dialog window, with the ability to set the timeout period of the update dialog, both the number of allowed snoozed timeouts and period of a snoozed timeout.
Choose what updates you need, from major OS upgrades and maintenance releases to security patches. Alternatively, keep devices on a fixed firmware version with no automatic updates. Choose how devices are updated, between full OTA and incremental updates based on your deployment needs. Use laddering to efficiently progress through multiple incremental releases or move directly to the latest firmware. Choose when devices are updated, use flexible scheduling to define when updates can take place, from recurring weekly windows to specific dates or deployment periods. Define additional conditions, such as requiring devices to be connected to power, or allow updates over 5G when cellular connectivity is appropriate. The same flexibility applies to Mobility Suite Tools, with the option to stay on a fixed version or update to the latest Espresso.
No new management platform required. Exposed through standard Android frameworks and supported by MDM platforms. Simply update your existing device profiles to configure firmware policies. Configuration groups can be used to create test groups, stage deployments, and stagger updates across the fleet.
Incremental firmware packages are the default. Generally, as 2-4% of a full OTA, significantly reducing the amount of data transferred to each device. Additionally, with incremental packages, devices can ladder through updates to reach the latest firmware without requiring a large full OTA download. Furthermore, with the indirect distribution model, a proxy server can download firmware once and distribute it to devices locally, reducing repeated downloads and minimizing network bandwidth consumption across large fleets.
Get hands-on with upcoming features and software improvements ahead of the wider customer base, giving your team more time to evaluate how they fit your environment by testing with a controlled set of devices and prepare your broader deployment before general availability. Develop with us, share feedback and real-world requirements while features are still being developed, helping Datalogic refine the experience and ensure new capabilities address your specific use cases.
